Belgium is also one of the few EU countries where front and rear plates differ — the rear plate carries official markings that the front plate does not.

CV = circulation‑verkeer

  • circulation (French) – road circulation / traffic
  • verkeer (Dutch) – road traffic

This mark is an official Belgian homologation symbol, confirming that the plate was issued by the authorities and meets national standards.

Front plates NEVER include the CV mark. This is the most important visual difference between front and rear Belgian plates.

Front Plate (Replica Plate)

The front plate is not issued by the Belgian government. It is a replica created to match the rear plate’s number.
